Longhorn Racing confirms the date for their 2024 Unveiling this April 20
AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 23, 2024 – Longhorn Racing, The University of Texas at Austin’s racing team, has announced that their 2024 Unveiling event will be held on April 20 in the Engineering Education & Research Center.
This year, LHR is not only unveiling their combustion and electric vehicles, but they are also unveiling a new solar vehicle for the first time in two years.
"In 2020, COVID hit us hard. Delivering Lonestar in 2022 was our program’s lifeline," explained Sidharth Babu, Solar team captain. "Now, we eagerly reveal a vehicle poised to shape our future."
All three vehicles will be revealed by their respective team captain and chief engineer. After the reveal, the cars will be exposed for guests to get a closer look at them, and the team members will be available for questions.
This event offers the sole chance for the public to view the vehicles before the teams compete in their respective design competitions this summer.
“Our members have worked extremely hard for these cars,” said Sohan Agnihotri, president of LHR. “We are thrilled to show the community the talent that comes out of UT.”
The event is expected to be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., after the annual Texas Football Orange-White Game on the ground floor of the Engineering Education & Research Center.
About Longhorn Racing: LHR is an engineering student organization composed of three separate design teams; combustion, electric, and solar. LHR’s combustion and electric vehicles compete in Formula SAE while solar competes in the American Solar Challenge.
